1. My schedule is not very flexible, and the physical therapist I saw today is not available when I am. Can I make an appointment with another therapist?
Yes, you can either see the same therapist or switch to another; feel free to see any of our highly qualified therapists. Our team works together to provide a continuum of care, optimizing your results through an individualized and detailed treatment plan.
2. How far in advance do I need to schedule my appointments?
Since our therapists' schedules fill quickly, it is wise to make your appointments as soon as you know when you will be available. We recommend that you schedule at least 1-2 weeks ahead of the date you would like to be seen.
3. How often should I schedule my physical therapy appointments?
This depends on several factors-the nature and severity of your problem, your therapist's recommendation, your schedule, and your insurance coverage. Your physical therapist can help you make this decision. To avoid
a possible interruption in your care, please discuss this topic with your therapist before you leave your first visit. We want to provide you the right level of care to help you reach your goals.
4. What resources, if any, do you offer for the chronic pain patient?
Building on the solid foundation of our physical therapy program, we offer a variety of special services to the person in pain. Options include customized exercise programs with experienced, highly qualified athletic trainers, deep tissue massage, and personal enhancement coaching with licensed therapists. In addition, we work closely with reputable physicians in the community, and we may refer you to one if we feel that is necessary. Other services may also be available-please speak with your physical therapist about what might be appropriate for you. We believe in a team approach to optimal health, and our professionals are dedicated to helping you find what will work the best for you.
5. During what hours can I schedule an appointment?
Appointment times may vary by clinic, but can you can generally book any time from 7:00 am to 1:00pm, and
2:00 to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. If you need to change an appointment, there is no charge as long as you are able to give us notice at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled time.
6. Will you accept my insurance plan?
We work with a great many health plans and insurance companies to give you the broadest, most convenient access to our services. There are some insurance plans, however, that we are not able to work with directly and still maintain what we believe to be an acceptable standard of care for you. When you call to make your appointment, we will be happy to check on your coverage and its applicability to our services.
As a courtesy to our valued customers, our insurance department will file a claim with your insurer for our services to you. For any portion of our services not covered by your insurance, we accept cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.
7.How do I get involved with other programs and specialists you recommend?
In most cases, you will need to contact those professionals directly at the numbers listed on their information sheets. Please note that their hours may differ from those of our physical therapy clinic listed above. Keep in mind that prices for independent contractors may vary, and some services may not be covered by insurance in the same way that physical therapy is covered. In addition, some services are only available at participating locations, so please be sure to clarify this when you call. If you have not been released from physical therapy, you will need your therapist's approval before starting an exercise program. Please speak with him or her about what might be most beneficial for you.
8. If I have started my therapy at one location, can I switch to another ProActive location if it is more convenient?
Yes, you can be seen at the location that best fits your needs. All of our expert physical therapists will be able to provide you with the exceptional healthcare experience you deserve, and the ongoing care you desire.
9. How do I get involved in the Health, Sport, and Fitness program?
If you are currently in physical therapy, you will need to get your therapist's approval to start an exercise program. We ensure good communication between your physical therapist and your personal trainer to maximize your results and minimize the recurrence of pain. Our health and fitness program is a perfect progression of your physical therapy treatment, and our professionals will design an individualized program for you. Investing in an exercise specialist will enable you to continue the benefits of being guided by a professional.
When you are released from physical therapy, you can schedule a meeting with any of our exercise specialists to discuss a plan to continue your improvement.
10. Can I improve my health and strength even though I am currently in physical therapy?
Yes! Pain has a purpose and often leads to an opportunity to be healthier. In addition to helping you identify the source of your pain, your therapist will prescribe exercises to allow you to succeed in your goals of being pain free and physically fit. Exercise is proven to help people with pain to function at higher levels, live healthier lives, and be more productive. When you are ready, you may transition into our health and fitness program. You will always have access to the advice of a physical therapist, should the need arise.
11. Can I use the personal training services even if I am not in physical therapy?
Yes, our programs can accommodate anyone who wants a healthier, more active lifestyle. Participating in a fitness program often prevents common orthopedic problems that lead to physical therapy.
