Every client who walks into ProActive Physical Therapy has a health goal. You come to see us because you want to change something and you want experts to guide you successfully toward that change.
There are many reasons to see a physical therapist. The most common over arching reasons are to decrease pain and improve function. As experts in pain and human movement, physical therapists often provide the best, most cost-effective solutions.
Great physical therapy goes beyond just treating pain! A visit with a physical therapist should also lead you to something that you hope to accomplish beyond just decreasing pain. Examples may be...play with your kids, hike, work in the garden, ride your bike, cross the street without pain, etc. We take you beyond just "not having pain" to getting you doing what you want to do.
Successful goal setting is an art and a science!
The art of goal setting resides in the relationship between the client and the provider. When a physical therapist and a client work together to establish clarity about the clients goals and the steps to get there, it is like beautiful music that creates excellent results.
The science of goal setting has much to do with mapping the complex "hard drive" of your brain for the actions required to get the result. Motivation is often linked to "why" the goal is important to you! If the answer was "just do it", then everyone would be doing it! And if everyone was doing it, there would be fewer problems. However, the truth is that how we decide to act on our problems has much to do with the relationship of those who guide us and the steps that we employ to set those goals.
