Consider swapping out your house slippers, stockings or sandals with a supportive pair of nonskid tennis shoes. Having the right kind of shoes can also help alleviate joint pain. Your physical therapist can advise you on the best footwear alternatives.
Tip #5: Take your time
If you tend to feel lightheaded when you stand up to quickly, make sure to take your time getting up. When you first wake up each morning, it may help to sit up first, count to 10, and then try to stand up.
